These are the projects that ShadowCaster has worked on, in reverse chronological
order. All images below can be clicked on to view a larger version.
Mission to Mars
Scott Gordon was CG Supervisor for Dream Quest Images, and was responsible
for the Vortex Attack sequence. In this portion of the film, a deadly
tornado-like dust-storm turns the first mission to Mars into disaster.
The Ninth Gate
ShadowCaster provided CG fire to help create the illusion that Balkan (Frank
Langella's character) is on fire, an unpleasant situation he finds himself
in after getting a little too close to Satan.
Santa Barbara Film Festival
We designed and animated a new film trailer for the festival. Incorporating
many of the painterly techniques we used in What Dreams May Come,
the trailer shows a beautiful Santa Barbara beach scene, Van Gogh style,
in moving imagery.
The Tempest
ShadowCaster's effected the transformation of a raven into a human for
this made-for-televsion movie. We also created computer generated leaves
that swirl around Prospero (Peter Fonda), in this Shakespearean classic.
Star Trek IX
ShadowCaster provided visual effects storyboards and designs for this latest
feature in the Star Trek saga.
What Dreams May Come
This film about Chris Neilson's (Robin Williams) voyage through the afterlife
won the 1999 Academy Award for best visual effects! We supervised computer
animation in the "Painted World" portion of the film. We used ground-breaking
techniques to make it seem that heaven was a living, moving painting.
"So breathtaking, so beautiful, so bold, like
nothing you have seen before." -Roger Ebert
An American Werewolf in Paris
ShadowCaster created shaders and texture maps for a digital Statue of Liberty.
We had worked extensively on the werewolf scenes before founding ShadowCaster,
designing and developing the werewolf, creating the hair renderer and supervising
the computer animation.
Spawn
ShadowCaster provided conceptual artwork and design, and developed effects
techniques and software for the Hell sequence.
